Circle 10 Scout Show

Circle 10 Council Scout Show

The 2010 Scout Show will be held at the Ballpark in Arlington this year! It is a collaborative event between Major League Baseball and the BSA as part of the 100th Anniversary Celebration.

The annual Circle Ten Council Scout Show is a favorite event! Held in May each year, the troop, pack, and crew all participate. It's loads of fun for family and friends of scouting, or for those curious to find out what scouting can be all about. If you've never been, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR MISSING!

With hundreds of scouting organizations demonstrating all of the many activities and opportunities scouting offers, you're sure to have fun and maybe even learn a thing or two!

Turkey in a Barrel

Troop 1020 is famous for our "Turkey in a Barrel". The boys decided this year to continue showcasing this popular method of cooking some of the most delicious turkey you'll ever eat!

In addition to our fabulous turkey, the patrols prepared dutch oven deserts for the patrons as well. Scroll down below for our recipes.

12-15 lbs. turkey

Start with the turkey

A 12-15 lbs turkey should do nice.
Oak stake for flavor

Use a wooden stake

A nice oak or other hardwood stake will smolder and help add smoky flavor. Make an upside down "t" to hang the turkey on and anchor to the ground or cooking surface.
20 lbs of charcoal

Fire it up!

We use oil barrels from auto-repair shops that have been thoroughly cleaned prior to use. Pile about 20 lbs of charcoal on the top and around the base. Then start cookin'.
Cook for about 2 hours 10 minutes

Chill out for a bit

The barrel will heat up to about 350-400 degrees. Let the turkey cook for about 2 hours and 10 minutes.
Be careful!

Be Careful!

We found that 2x4's (such as the ones used in our chuck boxes) allow good control removing the barrel and keep you safely away from the hot barrel.
mmmmmm! tasty turkey!

Yeah! That's some TASTY TURKEY!!

Yummy!
